Sleep Breathing Monitor CMS50EW-SLN is a finger pulse oximeter with a probe that is designed to keep the probe on while the patient is sleeping. The sleep monitor can record blood oxygen saturation level (SpO2) and pulse rate while sleeping at home. A pause in breathing would cause a drop in the SpO2 level, which would be recorded by the breathing monitor. The stored data is archived to computer and an included software can analyze and archive the data. Sleep breathing monitor is commonly used at home or sleep laboratory for sleep apnea study. While exercising, CMS50E-SLN monitors one's SpO2 and heart rate, which is important to patients with heart or breathing problems.

Sleep apnea is common among older people and affects over 50% of people above than 60. Some symptoms of sleep apnea and hypopnea are: fatiguability, reduced ability to concentrate, lethargy, morning headaches and irritability.

Another key feature of CMS50EW-SLN is the built-in alarm for the pulse rate and SpO2. If any reading falls outside the defined range, the alarm would sound so one can take appropriate actions. The ranges are specified in the system configuration menu. One customer uses the CMS50EW-SLN to wake up his wife in case his SpO2 level falls below a certain level.

The sleep monitor connects to the computer using either an USB cable or Bluetooth. Get an inexpensive Bluetooth dongle if it is not already available inside your computer. When using the integrated sensor, data can be saved in the computer at real time.

When using the probe, the data will be stored inside CMS50EW-SLN and can be uploaded later.

The sleep monitor can store up to 24-hours of data and the data can be transferred to a computer for archive and analysis.

The pulse oximeter has a rechargeable lithium ion battery, which is good for up to 24-hours of continuous usage. The battery can be recharged via an USB port or an AC adapter.
